The UGFWCG Committee is deeply saddened by the loss of lives and losses of whole villages and townships such as Marysville, Kinglake Ranges and Flowerdale within our region on 7 February 2009 due the Black Saturday fires. In fact nearly half of Murrindindi Shire was ravaged by those fires.

Over 70 small businesses and producers were decimated; our group will be supporting the recovery and re-building stage by urging all levels of government to provide the necessary ongoing funding to assist our region in this time of need.

Our major point of difference Trout and its farms have lost stock and had infrastructure destroyed, many of our boutique wineries have suffered from smoke taint and fencing losses, restaurants, cafes, artists and other small producers such as olives, fruit orchards, nut farms, lavender farms and nurseries have also suffered huge losses.

Visitors to our region can help by coming back to our region supporting our events and our businesses, even purchasing a cup of coffee, or Upper Goulburn wine or produce/ product assists our communities and our businesses to stay viable!

Thank you; Australia and the world for your support in the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal and for continuing your support by coming back to our region.

The Upper Goulburn Food, Wine and Culture Group began in 2000, with a group of enthusiastic producers in Murrindindi getting together to promote their products and the region.

In 2003 the group expanded to include the Upper Goulburn region, covering Mansfield to Marysville, Kinglake to Ruffy and Strath Creek to Merrijig.

What began as a few people sharing a common interest has developed into an active group with a growing membership base across the region, promoting the diverse range of products on offer.

Whether it be sampling a cherry fresh from the tree, sipping an award winning cool climate wine or indulging in a platter of local produce away from the rush of a busy life, you can be sure to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Taste our passion, discover the magic.
